Toledo shows respect for its history with the revamping of the Valentine Theatre and the Farmer’s Market! The Valentine hosts The Toledo Opera as well as other musical and theatrical venues throughout the year. The Farmer’s Market, (located near downtown Toledo), is an outdoor market where growers and farmers from all over Northwest Ohio display their flowers and vegetables in the huge abundance we share!
Toledo and Lucas County loves its parks too! We have one of the greatest park systems in the state with our Toledo-Lucas County MetroParks System. Open from 7 a.m. until dark, you can enjoy walking, biking and cross-country ski trails, softball and baseball fields, picnic areas, ponds and nature observatories where young and old alike observe nature firsthand. All for free!
Toledo is adjacent to Lake Erie, great for sport fishing, and boating. There are islands nearby where you can explore caves, shop ‘til you drop and enjoy local wineries. The Maumee River flows through our downtown area and into this great lake. On the Maumee River, you can take a Sandpiper boat ride, enjoy the restaurants at The Docks or visit COSI, a non-profit, hands-on science museum with over 300 exhibits and educational programming for kids of all ages in the community.
